The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), led by Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman, hosted a two-day discussion on the 7th and 8th of October in Washington D.C. The event, called the "Next Generation of Housing Policy" roundtable, aimed to gather innovative and powerful ideas to increase affordable housing options and help make living costs more manageable for Americans.

The roundtable brought together well-respected scholars from across the country, each with their own expertise in housing research. These thought leaders shared their insights on various challenges and offered actionable recommendations to address the nation's evolving housing needs.

Some of the key focus areas during the discussion were:

  • Better Housing Access: Looking for ways to ensure that more people can find housing they can afford.
  • Economic Support: Strategies to help people pay for housing in the face of other living costs.
  • Housing as a Foundation: Exploring how stable housing contributes to other aspects of life, like health and job opportunities.
  • Cutting-Edge Ideas: Considering new, creative methods to solve housing problems, taking inspiration from the latest research and data.
